Sustainable Horizons for Empowered Societies (SHES) is a Kenyan non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities through sustainable, community-driven development initiatives. SHES focuses on environmental sustainability, health and WASH, women and girls’ empowerment, ICT and digital inclusion, and community capacity building. Through collaboration with communities, government, and development partners, the organization implements practical, evidence-based solutions that improve livelihoods and promote sustainable development across Kenya.

Our Story
SHES was established from the conviction that sustainable development begins with empowered communities. Inspired by real community challenges, the organization exists to bridge gaps in access to health, education and opportunity through practical, evidence-based interventions.
SHES operates in Kenya with an initial focus on underserved communities and a long-term vision of expanding nationally through strategic partnerships.
SHES collaborates with county and national governments, corporate foundations, development partners, faith-based organizations, academic institutions and local communities.
The organization is developing robust systems in governance, finance, procurement, MEAL, safeguarding, volunteer management, partnership development and resource mobilization.
